The Making Of "The Mink Slide" Film: A Case Study of A Deadly Race Riot & Unprecedented Justice
Do you know about the race riot that took place in the black communities of Columbia, TN, in 1946? After returning from WWII, black soldiers decided to take matters into their own hands in order to seek retribution for an attempted social lynching of a fellow soldier as well as protect their homes and businesses from a racially violent mob of police and white citizens. By the time it was over policemen and members of the community on both sides were killed. 100 black men overall were arrested, but 25 black Soldiers were tried in Court. A Young Thurgood Marshall and Z. Alexander Looby would take the case. You won't believe what happened next.
